Meet Jennifer

Jennifer Pugh, M.A., Registered Psychologist

I am a Registered Psychologist, and have ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their parents and families.  My practice is person-centred and strength-based, and based on the belief that people are inherently built for and thrive in safe and meaningful connection with others.  I integrate a variety of approaches and techniques, depending on your particular needs and goals for therapy.  My aim is to build a relationship that is both comfortable enough to offer a safe place to talk and be heard, and challenging enough to support you in moving toward your goals.  We may use strategies or techniques from emotionally-focused family therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, or dialectical-behavioural therapy.  I am also trained in EMDR and have taken additional training in Attachment-Focused EMDR, which I have found to be helpful for many people who have experienced trauma or other adverse life experiences.

It has often been said that play is a child’s work, and I believe that it is one of the primary ways that children learn.  As a result, I often offer ways for my youngest clients to express themselves and learn new skills using play, art or sand.  When appropriate, I try to involve parents and family members in the therapy process.

I count it a privilege to hear and walk with my clients during the seasons in their life when it is needed.  I look forward to meeting you if you feel working together may be a good fit for you.
